Biography

Florence Catherine Currier, known professionally as Jane Morgan, was born on May 3, 1924, in Newton, Massachusetts. She began her musical journey at a young age, singing operatic arias under the guidance of her mother. After studying opera at the Juilliard School of Music and performing in nightclubs, she caught the attention of bandleader Art Mooney, who gave her the stage name Jane Morgan. It was around this time that French singer Bernard Hilda invited her to perform at his Parisian club, leading to her first recordings with his orchestra. Morgan's breakthrough came in 1957 with "Fascination", a cover of a French chanson that reached Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and earned her a gold record for selling over a million copies. Her subsequent hit, "The Day the Rains Came" (a cover of Gilbert Bécaud’s Le jour où la pluie viendra), also topped the charts in the UK in January 1959. Morgan continued to released several records, including Jane Morgan: The Day the Rains Came (1958) and "Happy Anniversary / C'est La Vie, C'est L'Amour" (1959) . She married her manager Jerry Weintraub in 1964 and in May 2011, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jane Morgan passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 101 in Naples, Florida.
