Biography

British folk and pop singer and songwriter Jamie Lawson was born on December 1, 1975 in St. Budeaux, Plymouth, England. While he already had established his solo career, he is best-known for being the first artist signed to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man label (through Warner Music). Lawson’s career began in the mid-1990s when he began releasing his demos via digital platforms. One of his songs, “Fussy”, began receiving airplay in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2001. He released his debut studio album, Last Night Stars, independently in 2006. His second album, The Pull of the Moon, was released in 2010. The album was repackaged in Ireland as Wasn’t Expecting That and reached Number 11. Lawson’s commercial visibility rose in 2015 when he was the first artist signed to Ed Sheeran’s label imprint, Gingerbread Man Records. His self-titled album reached Number 1 on the UK charts and entered the Top 5 in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Lawson has released two additional albums for the label: Happy Accidents (2017) and The Years in Between (2019).
