Biography
James Maddock, born 1962 in Leicester, England, is singerâsongwriter and performing musician. He began his recording career with the 1982 album Tied Weight on Reach Up Records. After early work with the band Fire Next Time, which released the 1988 album North to South on Polydor, Maddock moved to New York City in 2003 and formed the band Wood, whose 1999 album Songs from Stamford Hill produced the TVâfeatured track "Stay You". His solo releases include Strategies for Life (2007), Sunrise on Avenue C (2009), which won the 2010/11 NY Music Award for Best Americana Album, and Another Life (2013), the latter featured by American Songwriter and CMT Edge. Maddock performed with Bruce Springsteen, appeared on CBS This Morning and Late Show with David Letterman, and became a resident artist at Rockwood Music Hall.
