Jack Tempchin, a solo artist and hit songwriter, is best known for his close friendship and collaboration with Glenn Frey of the Eagles. The two first met in 1972 when Frey, then part of the duo Longbranch Pennywhistle, stayed at Tempchin's house in San Diego. Two years later, Tempchin played Frey a new song he had written called "Peaceful Easy Feeling". Enthralled by the tune, Frey recorded it with his new band, the Eagles, and transformed it into a beloved hit.
This experience sparked a lifelong songwriting partnership between the two friends. Tempchin went on to write or co-write many of the Eagles' biggest hits, including "Already Gone". "The Girl from Yesterday", and "You Belong to the City". In addition to his work with Frey, Tempchin has also penned songs for artists like George Jones, Emmylou Harris, and Johnny Rivers.
As a solo artist, Tempchin has released twelve albums, including "Peaceful Easy Feeling â The Songs of Jack Tempchin", a tribute to his friendship with Frey. The album features Tempchin's own renditions of twelve of their songs, performed with guest vocalists Rita Coolidge, Janiva Magness, Chris Hillman, and Herb Pedersen.
Tragically, Frey passed away in 2016, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest songwriters and musicians of all time. In his memory, Tempchin released a tribute titled "The One You Love", which appeared on his 2017 album "One More Song".
