Biography

Born in Nottingham on May 27, 1996, pianist Isata Kanneh-Manson comes from a famous family of British musicians. Like her siblings, she studied at London's Purcell School and then at the Royal Academy of Music, with Joanna MacGregor as her teacher. In 2014, she joined the trio formed by her cellist and violinist brothers, and in 2019 made a name for herself with the album Romance - The Piano Music of Clara Schumann, released by Decca and ranked #1 in the UK classical music charts. In 2020, the album The Carnival, which includes Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals as well as compositions by Grieg and Rimsky-Korsakov, reunites the four members of the siblings under the title The Kanneh-Masons. Promoted by the Echo Rising Star program to appear on European stages in 2021-2022, Isata Kanneh-Mason receives the Leonard Bernstein Award and the Opus Klassik prize for young artists, before beginning a residency with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Meanwhile, the piano recital Summertime (2021) and the duo album Muse with Sheku Kanneh-Mason are released. In 2023, after unveiling the album Childhood Tales, the pianist appeared for the first time at the BBC Proms in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. The following year, the Mendelssohn recital, with the participation of The London Mozart Players, is divided between Felix Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 and A Midsummer Night Dream, Fanny Mendelssohn's Easter Sonata and Lieder transcriptions.
