Irreversible Entanglements is a avant-garde jazz collective founded in 2015 in Philadelphia by vocalist Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother), drummer Tcheser Holmes, trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, saxophonist Keir Neuringer, and double bassist Luke Stewart. Their breakthrough came with the 2017 debut album Irreversible Entanglements, released on International Anthem, earning yearâend accolades from The Wire, The Quietus, and NPR Music. In 2020 the group released Who Sent You?, praised by Magnet and Stereogum, followed by live recordings Irreversible Live in Italy (2020) and Irreversible Live in Berlin (2020). The 2021 studio release Open the Gates broadened their palette and was highlighted by NPR Music and Treble. In 2023 they signed with Impulse! Records for Protect Your Light, and their 2026 album Future Present Past continued critical acclaim.
