Biography

Armida Rojo Gamboa, known professionally as Irma Vila, was born on September 14, 1916, in Mexico. She began her career as a singer and actress, gaining prominence in the 1940s. Vila became one of the first female performers of ranchera music, earning the nickname "La Reina del Falsete" (The Queen of Falsetto) for her extraordinary falsetto. Her breakthrough came with successful tours across Spain, France, and North Africa. Upon returning to Mexico, she starred in the film Canta y No Llores... (1949). She passed away on May 22, 1993.
