Biography

Irma Pany, known simply as Irma, is a Cameroonian singer-songwriter celebrated for her soulful voice and rise to fame through her video channel, where she shared acoustic covers and original compositions like "Letter to the Lord" and "Somehow". Born on July 15, 1988, in Douala, Cameroon, and later relocating to France to pursue her education, Irma gained significant recognition after signing with the crowd-funded label My Major Company. Her 2011 debut album Letter to the Lord became a commercial success, peaking in the Top 10 in France and achieving platinum status, with the single "I Know" reaching number 2 on the French charts. Irma's talent and growing international appeal led to a record deal in the United States, a nomination for Best French Act at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, and her feature in a widely acclaimed Google Chrome ad documenting her journey. Following her success, she released her sophomore album Faces in 2014, which included tracks like "Hear Me Out" and "Save Me," the latter earning the Starz People's Choice Award at the Denver Film Festival. Irma’s third studio album , The Dawn (2020), marked her continued evolution as an independent artist and was followed by other celebrated releases such as Douala Paris (2022), The Sound of What We Are (2023), and the EPs House of Cards (2024) and Live From Paris (2024).
