Biography

Ima Robot was formed in Los Angeles, California, by Alex Ebert and Tim Anderson in the late 1990s; Alex Ebert, served as lead vocalist and songwriter, while Tim Anderson played guitar. The duo first released the Public Access EP on 9 June 2003, followed by the self‑titled album Ima Robot on 16 September 2003, which included the single "Dynomite". In 2004 they issued the EP Dynomite and later the album Monument to the Masses on 12 September 2006, featuring singles such as "Creeps Me Out" and "Lovers in Captivity". The band signed with Virgin Records in 2002 but departed in 2007, after which they continued independently. Their 2010 release Another Man's Treasure contained the B‑side "Greenback Boogie", later used as the theme for the USA Network series Suits (2011‑2019). In 2025 the group issued a deluxe edition of Another Man's Treasure and announced a re‑release of the 2006 EP Search and Destroy. Throughout their career, Ima Robot maintained a presence on the alternative scene and contributed to television soundtracks, solidifying their role in early 2000s American alternative music.
