Biography

Ilana Vered was born on December 6, 1943, in Tel Aviv, Israel. Vered is a concert pianist and professor of piano who began musical studies at a young age. From the age of 13 to 15, Vered attended the Paris Conservatoire, earning first prize in piano upon graduation under the tutelage of Vlado Perlemuter and Jeanne-Marie Darré. Vered continued studies at the Juilliard School with Rosina Lhévinne and won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1961. Vered has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including the New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony, collaborating with conductors such as Leopold Stokowski, Georg Solti, and Zubin Mehta. Recordings for the Decca label in the 1970s include the 1970 world premiere complete recording of Moritz Moszkowski's 15 Études de Virtuosité, Op. 72. Other recordings include the piano concertos of Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Mozart. In 2005, Vered founded the Music Fest Perugia festival in Italy.
