Biography

Hugo Matthysen, born on January 30, 1956, in Ekeren, Belgium, is a Belgian singer, guitarist, columnist, writer, Master in Philosophy, and actor. He started his music career in 1978 as part of the cover band Beri-Beri with Bart Peeters and Jan Leyers. In 1984, Matthysen gained prominence through his appearances on Villa Tempo alongside Peeters and Marcel Vanthilt as "De Hermannen." Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable figures such as Kamagurka and Herr Seele on the television show Lava, and wrote for children's TV series like Kulderzipken and Dag Sinterklaas. Matthysen also co-presented the Torhout-Werchter festival in 1990. His alter ego, Clement Peerens, led to the formation of CPeX (Clement Peerens Explosition) and Hormonia.
