Chronis Aidonidis, born on September 23, 1928, in Karoti, Greece, was a singer and composer known for his contributions to Greek folk and entekhno music. He was first taught Byzantine music by his father and learned traditional songs from his mother and local musicians before moving to Athens in 1950 with his parents. In Athens, Aidonidis completed his studies in Byzantine music at the Hellenic Conservatory under Theodoros Hadjitheodorou. Aidonidis released several recordings and collaborated with notable artists such as George Dalaras for the CD Nightingales from the Orient in 1990. During the Olympic Games of Athens in 2004, Aidonidis sang "Welcome My Friends" to greet all guests. He also participated in significant events like the 6th Festival of Sacred Music in Patmos (2006) and taught traditional singing at various institutions. Aidonidis died on October 23, 2023, at the age of 95.
