Biography

The Heritage Singers, an American Christian group, were founded in 1971 by Max Mace and his wife Lucy near Placerville, California after performing with the Rose City Singers. The band's name was named by founding member Jerry Leiske and was based on biblical scripture. Their first album, Hymns We Remember, was released in 1971, followed by Come Along with the Heritage Singers (1971). The group collaborated with Ronn Huff for orchestration on several albums in the mid-1970s. They formed a second group, Heritage II (later New Creation), in September 1973 and a third group, Heritage Español, in 1995. Throughout their career, they has produced over 200 albums and performed over 7,000 concerts across more than 65 countries. Max Mace passed away on November 4, 2020, at his home in Placerville, California.
