Henry Gwiazda was born in 1952 in New Britain, Connecticut. He was an American composer known for his work in classical and electronic music. He played guitar in a garage band as a youth before studying at the Eastman School of Music, Hartt School, and University of Cincinnati. Beginning in 1986, Gwiazda composed works for sampler, tape, and electric guitar, which were performed at notable festivals such as New Musik America in New York. His compositions often incorporated collage methods and natural sounds, leading to significant virtual audio works like "buzzingreynold'sdreamland" (1994) and "thefLuteintheworLdthefLuteistheworld" (1995). Gwiazda received several awards, including the First Prize of the SUC Student Composers Competition and grants from the Jerome Foundation and McKnight Foundation. He taught as a music professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead until 1998.
