Hawaiian6, a Japanese punk rock band formed in 1997, originally started as a cover band for Hi-Standard. The group consisted of Yuta on vocals and guitar, Toru on bass and backing vocals, and Hatano on drums. Their first release was the EP Fantasy, signed to Step Up Records in 2000. In 2002, Hawaiian6 transitioned to Pizza of Death Records, which re-released their debut studio album Souls. The band gained significant attention when six of their songs were featured in the TBS drama series Gachi Baka! without permission in January 2006. Later that year, they performed at a concert titled "Hawaiian6 and Fuck You Heroes Presents 1997" with Fuck You Heroes. In January 2007, Hawaiian6 founded their own label, Ikki Not Dead. The band continued to release albums including Beginnings (2005), Rings (2007), and Bonds (2009). Notable lineup changes occurred in 2013 when Ryosuke joined as the new bassist but left abruptly, later returning briefly before departing permanently. Gure became an official member in April 2014. Hawaiian6 performed at various events including the Satanic Carnival organized by Pizza of Death Records and their own event Echoes 2017 at Studio Coast.
