Biography

One of the leading exponents of the corridos tumbados genre, Antonio Herrera Pérez, widely recognized as Junior H, was born on April 23, 2001, in Cerano, Guanajuato. His songs often feature an intoxicating blend of Latin urban sounds, Regional Mexican music, and lyrics revolving around relationships and heartbreak, fitting seamlessly into the urban sierreño or "sad" sierreño genre. At 12, he penned lyrics with a friend, despite not knowing how to play any instrument. His relocation to Utah at 15 marked a transformative phase. By 17, while juggling high school and a job at a sandwich shop, he self-taught instruments like the accordion and guitar from online tutorials. His fate took a turn for the better after he posted a rendition of his song "No He Cambiado" to his video-streaming channel, quickly accumulating over 2 million views. Junior H's 2019 debut album, Mi Vida en un Cigarro, included hits like "No He Cambiado" and "El de la Chevy." Joining Rancho Humilde that same year accelerated his career, leading to collaborations with artists like Natanael Cano. Atrapado en un Sueño, released in 2020, cemented his status with songs like the title track and "Mente Positiva," cracking the Top 5 of Billboard's Top Latin Album chart. In 2020, his albums Musica <3 and Cruisin' with Junior H were both certified multiple platinum, with the former hitting Number 1 on the Latin charts in the US. This success was followed later that year by Las 3 Torres, a collaborative album with Natanael Cano and Dan Sánchez. Subsequent releases such as 2021's $ad Boyz 4 Life and 2022's Mi Vida en un Cigarro 2 topped the Regional Mexican Albums chart in the United States and received platinum certification by the RIAA. Contingente, a collection of reggaeton songs, arrived shortly after. In 2023, his collaborations with Peso Pluma, especially the chart-topping "Lady Gaga," and his association with Grupo Frontera, further raised his profile. The release of his eighth studio album, $ad Boyz 4 Life II, continued to solidify Junior H's place in the Latin music scene, achieving a remarkable number 2 on the Billboard 200. After that breakthrough, Junior H spent 2024 on the road with the Sad Boyz Mania Tour, scaling up to major U.S. venues, including a two-night run at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. He also kept his collaborative lane active, pairing with Peso Pluma on the single “A Tu Manera” (2024) and continuing to trade verses and hooks within the corridos tumbados wave. In 2025 he made a high-profile Coachella debut—bringing out guests onstage—and he announced the Live & Broken Tour, extending his live footprint into 2025–2026. He followed up in 2026 with the album DEPR</3$$ED MFKZ, teaming up with Gael Valenzuela.
