Gustav Theodore Holst, also known as Gustav Holst, was born on April 8, 1874, in Cheltenham, England, and was a composer, arranger, and teacher. His early life involved a passion for music and a keen interest in the works of his contemporaries, particularly Edward Elgar, which shaped his formative years. He produced additional orchestral pieces like A Somerset Rhapsody (1906-1907) and Egdon Heath (1927). His first significant breakthrough came in 1913 when he composed The Planets, a suite that earned acclaim and secured his reputation in the orchestral field. The work was first performed by the London Symphony Orchestra under his direction, and its individual movements, such as "Mars, Bringer of War" and "Venus, Bringer of Peace", became emblematic. He died on May 25, 1934.
