Grupo Balacobaco is a Rio de Janeiro-based pagode group formed in 2008 in the suburban samba circuit of the city, drawing from the traditional rodas de samba of neighborhoods like Lapa and the Centro Cultural Cartola. The group is composed of Bombom (banjo and vocals), Júnior Itaguaà (cavaquinho and vocals), Riquinho (reco and vocals), Gegê D'Angola (guitar), Azeitona (tantã), Feijão (percussion), Vinicinhus (surdo), and Orelha (pandeiro). In 2010, they recorded their debut CD, which produced the tracks "Tá Pensando Que Eu Tô De Bobeira," "Boca Miúda," and "Jeito Insano." In 2013, they released a seven-track EP, followed in 2014 by their first DVD audiovisual project, Nas Mãos do Povo, filmed at Parque de Madureira before an audience of over 50,000 people, with guests including Arlindo Cruz, Reinaldo, and Rappin Hood. The group has historically shared the stage with major names in Brazilian samba and pagode, including Zeca Pagodinho, Seu Jorge, Alcione, Dudu Nobre, and Exaltasamba, among others. In 2023, they launched O Som da Rua, recorded at their weekly samba session "Resenha, Pagode e Chinelo," featuring collaborations with Grupo Revelação, Caju Pra Baixo, Vou Pro Sereno, Arlindinho, Anderson Leonardo, and Grupo Clareou. That same event served as the backdrop for the 2024 single "Saudade da Gente," recorded live with LUDMILLA. In January 2025, they began releasing the audiovisual project Festa do Balaco, featuring appearances by Yan, Grupo Pique Novo, Thiago Martins, Xande de Pilares, Suel, and Grupo Bom Gosto, among others.
