Biography

Grotus was an American industrial rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1989 by Adam Tanner and John Carson. Lars Fox joined as vocalist after helping them with technical difficulties. Their debut album Brown was released in 1991 on Spirit Music Industries. The band's unique sound featured sampled ethnic instruments and two drummers. Drummer Bruce Boyd later joined the band, enhancing their live performances. Grotus toured extensively from 1993 to 1996. They released the remix EP "Handjob" in 1995 and their final studio album Mass in 1996 under London Records. Despite initial interest from major labels, Grotus disbanded in 1996 after being dropped by London Records due to lack of commercial success with the single "Hand to Mouth".
