Biography

Grieves is the professional name of American rapper Benjamin Howard Laub, born on February 23, 1984, in Chicago. He resided in various cities before relocating to Seattle and starting a music career with the EP Every Hell Has Its Springtime (2005). He released his debut studio recording, Irreversible, independently in 2007. In 2010, he collaborated with producer Budo for the recording 88 Keys & Counting. Its successor, Together/Apart (2011), reached number 112 on the Top 200 Album Sales chart and featured the tracks “Lightspeed” and “Bloody Poetry”. Grieves released the album Winter & the Wolves in 2014, which reached number 57 on the Billboard 200. His later discography included the studio recordings Running Wild (2017) and Canopy (2025). He collaborated with artists including Macklemore and the group CunninLynguists.
