Grand Hallway was an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 2007 by singer and multi-instrumentalist Tomo Nakayama following the dissolution of his first band, Asahi. The group initially started as a recording project with producer Jeramy Koepping, evolving into a full band. Their debut album, Yes Is The Answer, was released in 2007 featuring a chamber-pop sound with a string quartet and received critical acclaim. In 2008, they released the EP We Flew Ephemera and toured extensively. Their second album, Promenade, was released in 2009 and featured intricate arrangements and a children's choir, earning heavy airplay. The band continued to tour extensively in 2010, playing at major festivals such as SXSW and Bumbershoot. In 2011, they released Winter Creatures, which took a more personal tone inspired by events such as the death of Nakayama's grandparents and the birth of Koepping's son.
