Biography

Grand Champeen, a rock band from Austin, Texas, was formed in 1997 by Channing Lewis and Michael Crow, who met drummer Ned Stewart at Woodberry Forest School. The trio initially performed as Frosted Megawheats before adopting the name Grand Champeen in late 1999. Their debut album, Out Front by the Van, was self-released in January 2000, featuring a country-influenced rock sound. The band gained traction playing regular shows in Austin and touring with acts like Slobberbone and Richmond Fontaine. In 2003, they released The One That Brought You, which marked a shift towards energetic rock with distorted guitars. This album was voted Number 1 in The Austin Chronicle's Texas Top 10 and named Album of the Year.
