Gong Linna (龚琳娜), born 1 August 1975 in Guiyang, Guizhou, is a Chinese singer known for blending traditional melodies with contemporary lyricism. She began her musical education at the Secondary School Affiliated to China Conservatory of Music in 1992, studying national vocal music under Zou Wenqin before enrolling at the China Conservatory of Music after graduation. Gong Linna gained national attention with the viral performance of "Tante" (忐忑) at Hunan Television’s 2010 New Year concert, a fast‑paced wordless fusion piece that incorporated voices from Chinese opera and imitations of traditional instruments. She released the album 走西口 in 2008, followed by 唐宋东西 in 2015, and 山海神话 in 2021, each showcasing a blend of folk and experimental styles. Her collaborations include work with German composer Robert Zollitsch, her ex‑husband, and Portuguese fado musician António Chainho. In 2013, she competed in Jiangsu Television’s All‑Star Wars singing masterclass, performing a rock rendition of "Wishing We Last Forever" and later a Yunnan folk song "Rippling Brook". She continued to record, releasing singles 江声入旧年 in January 2026 and 挽红纱 in June 2026, sustaining her presence in the contemporary Chinese music scene.
