Biography

Goldenhorse, a pop and folk-pop band from New Zealand, was formed in 1999 by lead vocalist Kirsten Morrell and guitarist Geoff Maddock. The group initially included Joel Wilton on drums and Ben King as a founding member. Goldenhorse's debut album, Riverhead, was released independently in 2002 and achieved significant success, peaking at Number 1 in 2004 and going triple platinum. The album featured the charting single "Maybe Tomorrow", which became the most played local song on New Zealand radio for 2002/2003. Following this breakthrough, Goldenhorse signed with Siren Records and released Out of the Moon in 2005, which also went platinum. The band toured extensively, including performances in Europe. Their final album, Reporter, was released in 2007 but saw mediocre commercial performance. After a hiatus following the release of Reporter, Goldenhorse reunited twice for one-off performances in support of local events in 2011 and 2016.
