Biography

Gino McKoy (born December 28, 1980, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago), raised in Canada, began his artistic path under musical influences from his parents before launching into the international scene with his debut pop album Step Forward in 2010. He previously earned attention in 2004 by producing “West Indies Forever” for the Cricket World Cup and followed with the spirited “Soca Warriors Anthem” in 2006 for the FIFA World Cup. Shifting gears, Gino McKoy delved into screenwriting and became the first Hollywood writer to tackle deep-web and bitcoin themes with Little Mizz Innocent (scripted 2011, filmed 2015), starring Olga Kurylenko. In 2019, he contributed “Everything to Me”—co-written with his father Hudson—as the main theme for his self-produced sci-fi horror Lumina, which McKoy filmed and directed in Morocco; it premiered in theaters in 2024 and earned a cult following at genre events. His dual artistic vision is reflected in his original singles “Runaway” and “Sensy Girl” (2024), both featured on the Lumina soundtrack and produced with industry legends David Kershenbaum and Greg Phillinganes.
