Biography

French trumpeter and composer Georges Jouvin (1923-2016) is known for his adaptations of international hits and classical and jazz music. His fame with the general public, which earned him the nickname "L'homme à la trompette d'or", extended from the mid-1950s to the 1980s. During this period, he recorded hundreds of albums for the Pathé-Marconi label, including the famous Hit Jouvin series of some forty volumes, sometimes with his wife on vocals or cover art. A director of SACEM and SDRM, he also chaired the Syndicat des chefs d'orchestre de variétés, and in 1994 was awarded the Légion d'honneur. He died at his home in Saint-Cloud on October 24, 2016, aged 93.
