Biography
Georges Chelon, born in Marseille in 1943, is one of the discreet artisans of French chanson, whose career has been marked by success and recognition from his peers. The author of "Père prodigue " (1965), "Morte saison" (1966) and "Sampa " (1968) has built up a repertoire of lyrics that are not widely performed, but are imbued with poetry and realism. Still active, he adapted Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du mal into song in three volumes (2004-2008), and continued to record the albums C'est Passé Vite (2011), Chansons Libertines (2012) and Chelon Chante Brassens (2013). In 2014, he gave his take on current affairs in Au Pays de Millet, then made his return to the Olympia in 2015. A few weeks later, he reacted to the Charlie-Hebdo attacks with the album La Belle Endormie (Charlie), followed in 2016 by the nostalgic Dans la Cour de l'Ãcole.
