Biography
Geordie, a British rock band, was formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1972 by guitarist Vic Malcolm, bassist Tom Hill, drummer Brian Gibson and vocalist Brian Johnson, who would later replace Bon Scott in AC/DC. The groupâs breakthrough came with the single "Don't Do That" in 1972, which entered the UK Top 40, followed by the 1973 hit "All Because of You" that reached the UK Top 10. Their debut album Hope You Like It was released in 1973 on EMI, followed by Don't Be Fooled by the Name (1974) and Save the World (1976). In 1978, the band issued No Good Woman, a collection of unreleased tracks and new material recorded with future Dire Straits keyboardist Alan Clark and vocalist Dave Ditchburn. After Johnson departed for a solo career, the remaining members regrouped as Geordie II, releasing No Sweat in 1983 on Neat Records. The original lineup disbanded in 1980, and the band saw intermittent reformations through the 2000s and 2010s, with new lineâups featuring Mark Wright and later Terry Slesser on vocals.
