Genticorum was formed in autumnâ¯2000 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, by fiddle player Pascalâ¯Gemme, guitarist Yannâ¯Falquet, and woodenâflute/accordionist Nicholasâ¯Williams, with former member Alexandreâ¯deâ¯GrosboisâGarand joining later. The trio blended modern composition with classic folk and Celtic influences, drawing on Gemmeâs fiddle tunes and traditional FrenchâCanadian lyrics. Their debut album Leâ¯Galarneau (2002) introduced the groupâs sound, followed by Malinsâ¯Plaisirs (2005), which won the Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Ensemble and earned Juno and Félix nominations. Subsequent releasesâLaâ¯Bibournoise (2008), Nagezâ¯Rameurs (2011), Enregistréâ¯Live (2013), Avantâ¯l'orage (2018), and Auâ¯coeurâ¯deâ¯l'aube (2023)âexpanded their catalog. In the following years, Genticorum toured internationally, performing in Egypt, Malaysia, and Europe, while offering bilingual workshops in Quebecâs traditional dance scene.
