Biography

Garland Jeffreys is an all-round artist, and in particular a songwriter concerned with the racial question in American society. A friend of Lou Reed - with whom he shared the stage - and a protégé of Bruce Springsteen, the author of "Wild in the Street" (1977) and "Matador " (1981) unfortunately doesn't seem to have reaped the success he deserved, and it's with modesty that the musician has crossed four decades, sowing his seed with clever compositions mixing rock, soul, rhythm'n'blues and reggae, reflecting the cultural melting pot that is his hometown, New York.
