Garish, an Austrian indie-pop band from Mattersburg, Burgenland, was formed in 1997 by Thomas Jarmer, Christoph Jarmer, Julian Schneeberger, Kurt Grath, and Markus Perner. The group's early breakthrough came with their debut album Amaurose pur, released in 2000, which garnered media attention and a nomination for the MTV brand:newcomer Award. Their subsequent albums, including Wo die Nacht erzählt vom Tag (2002) and Absender auf Achse (2004), received critical acclaim and multiple nominations for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award. In 2007, Garish released their album Parade, which marked their entry into the official Austrian Album Charts. The band's notable achievements include performances at major festivals like Eurosonic in Groningen and collaborations with artists such as Arik Brauer. Thomas Jarmer is also recognized for his work as a film music composer, contributing to projects like Elisabeth Scharang's Vielleicht in einem anderen Leben.
