Gare du Nord, a Dutch-Belgian jazz band, was formed around 2001 by guitarist Ferdi Lancee and saxophone player Barend Fransen. The duo began writing lounge music in Belgium and signed with Play It Again Sam Records, releasing their debut album (In Search Of) Excellounge in 2001. Their early success included songs featured in the soundtracks of Six Feet Under and Ghost Rider. In 2005, they released Club Gare Du Nord, which featured contributions from Erik Truffaz and the Imani Fellowship Choir. The band's breakthrough came with the album Sex 'n' Jazz (2007), which included the single "Ride On" featuring Paul Carrack and "You're My Medicine" with Marvin Gaye. In 2013, Lancee and Fransen parted ways, with Lancee retiring from the public music business and Fransen forming a new live band.
