Biography

LINDBERG, a Japanese pop rock/rock band, was formed in 1989 and consisted of lead singer Watase Maki, guitarist Hirakawa Tatsuya, bassist Kawazoe Tomohisa, and drummer Koyanagi "Cherry" Masanori. The band's unique composition, featuring a female lead vocalist, set them apart in the Japanese rock scene at the time. LINDBERG released their debut single "ROUTE 246" in 1989, marking their entry into the music industry. Their early albums, including LINDBERG I and LINDBERG II, were released in the same year, establishing a foundation for their career. Throughout the 1990s, LINDBERG continued to release successful albums such as LINDBERG III and LINDBERG IV, and notable singles like such as "今すぐKiss Me" ("Ima sugu Kiss Me") (1990), "OH! ANGEL" (1990) and "GLORY DAYS" (1991). The band's popularity grew with albums like LINDBERG V (May 22, 1992), LINDBERG VI (1993), and LINDBERG VIII (1996). In 2002, LINDBERG disbanded, following the marriage of Watase Maki and Hirakawa Tatsuya. The band reunited briefly in 2009 for their 20th anniversary, releasing LINDBERG XX: The 20th Anniversary through Avex Trax. They also produced music for Jurian Beat Crisis during this period. After another hiatus, LINDBERG returned in January 2014, followed by concerts and tours in Japan. In 2025, they released the single "Black Spider", charting at number 45 on the Top 50 Oricon chart.
