Biography
Feist is a Grammy-nominated, Juno Award-winning solo artist, as well as a member of the Canadian indie rock collective Broken Social Scene. She was born as "Leslie Feist" on February 13, 1976, in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Her debut album, Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down), was released in 1999, but her commercial breakthrough arrived in the form of 2004's Let It Die. The album went platinum in Canada and featured the international hit single "Mushaboom," which reached Number 9 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart in America. Her third album, 2007's The Reminder, was even more successful, reaching double-platinum status in Canada (where it charted at Number 2) and gold status in America (where it reached Number 16). Additionally, the single "1234" became a Top 10 hit in Canada, the UK, and the US. Metals was released in 2011 and became her third consecutive platinum-certified release in Canada, as well as her second consecutive record to reach Number 2 on the Canadian charts. The album was a success in America, too, where "How Come You Never Go There" hit Number 5 on Adult Alternative Airplay, becoming Feist's highest-ranking song on that chart. After releasing Pleasure in 2017, Feist sang with The Tragically Hip during their Juno Awards performance and began recording a sixth album, Multitudes, which arrived in 2023.
