Biography

Forest City Lovers, a Canadian folk indie pop band, was formed in 2006 in Toronto. The group centered around singer-songwriter Kat Burns, who released the independent EP For the Birds early that year after moving to Toronto. She later assembled Forest City Lovers with original members James Bunton and Andrew Kinoshita. Their debut album, The Sun and the Wind, was independently released in 2006 and featured the single "Castles!". The band gained national attention when "Castles!" was playlisted on CBC Radio 3. In late 2007, Mika Posen joined on violin. The band released their second album, Haunting Moon Sinking, in 2008 under Out of This Spark, followed by their third full-length album, Carriage, in 2010. On March 27, 2012, Kat Burns announced an indefinite hiatus for Forest City Lovers to pursue individual projects, including her solo work under KASHKA.
