Biography
Formed in Dayton, Ohio in the mid-1970s, Faze-O was soul and funk outfit closely associated with funk legends The Ohio Players. The band was originally comprised of Keith Harrison, Ralph âLoveâ Aikins Jr., Tyrone âFlyeâ Crum, Robert Neal Jr., and Roger Parker. Produced by members of The Ohio Players, Faze-Oâs debut album, Riding High, was released in 1977. The albumâs title track became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and has become a classic in the hip-hop community after being sampled by artists such as Snoop Dogg, EPMD, Kris Kross, Ghostface Killah, and Craig Mack. The band issued their second album, Good Thang, in 1978 and was followed the next year by the album Breakinâ the Funk. The band split up sometime after the release of the Breakinâ the Funk but their musical legacy has proven to be a lasting one.
