The Fauré Quartett, a German piano quartet named after Gabriel Fauré, was founded in 1995 at the Karlsruhe University of Music. The original membersâErika Geldsetzer on violin, Sascha Frömbling on viola, Konstantin Heidrich on cello, and Dirk Mommertz on pianoâbegan their studies there before continuing at the Cologne University of Music. Their first concert took place in January 1996. The quartet has remained unchanged since its inception and has performed internationally, recording works by composers such as Volker David Kirchner and Toshio Hosokawa. Notable albums include Pocket Symphonies (2013), which featured modern arrangements of pop songs produced by Sven Helbig, and Pictures at an Exhibition (2018). The Fauré Quartett has received numerous awards, including the ECHO Klassik in 2008 and 2010, as well as the Brahms Prize in 2012.
