Biography

Fabio Bruno Ernani Piccaluga, known professionally as Fabio Concato, was born on 31 May 1953 in Milan, Italy, and emerged as a singer and songwriter rooted in a musical family. After forming a rock band with his brother in 1965 and performing with the cabaret group Mormoranti from 1974, he launched his solo career in 1977 with the Harmony label release Storie di sempre, featuring the ironic tribute "A Dean Martin", which marked his breakthrough. He continued with Svendita Totale (1978) and Zio Tom (1979) under Philips Records, the latter featuring Toots Thielemans. The 1982 self‑titled album Fabio Concato produced the hit "Domenica bestiale", while Fiore di maggio from the 1984 album Fabio Concato entered the Italian charts, followed by singles such as "Guido piano" and "Rosalina". In 1985 he co‑wrote the score for A me mi piace, and the 1986 release Senza avvisare yielded his first Number 1 hit in 1989. Subsequent albums-Giannutri (1990), In viaggio (1992) with Pino Daniele, Blu (1996), and Ballando con Chet Baker (2001)-showcased collaborations with Phil Ramone, Pino Daniele, and Sanremo participation with "Ciao Ninìn". After a 2003 live release Voilà and a 2004 musical score for Patrizia, he returned with Tutto qua (2012) and Non smetto di ascoltarti (2016). His 2020 benefit single L’umarell was recorded during the COVID‑19 pandemic, underscoring his continued engagement with charitable causes.
