Faarrow, a Canadian pop and R&B musical duo consisting of Somali sisters Siham and Iman Hashi, were born in Mogadishu. Their motherâs diplomatic work stationed the family in countries including Saudi Arabia and Germany before they relocated to Toronto after civil war broke out in Somalia in 1991. In 2007, the sisters moved to Atlanta to pursue a recording career, eventually signing with Universal Motown as the first female artists of Somali descent on a major U.S. label. In 2009â2010, they began recording their debut album Sweet Rush in Los Angeles. Their debut EP Lost was released in July 2016 under Warner Bros. Records. Faarrow's musical influences include the Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Mika. The duo has collaborated with artists such as Akon and Esther Dean, and their philanthropic work includes founding the non-profit organization Somalia Lives Again.
