Biography

Abdurrahim Akça (February 2, 1983), aka Eypio, is a Turkish rapper of Afghan Turkmen descent. He began rapping in 2002 under the pseudonym A.P.O. after relocating to the Netherlands, where he made his first recordings aided by a handful of local musicians. His eponymous debut EP saw the light in 2005, followed by his first full-length Rap Fabriek (2006) and Hırsız Var (2007). Upon his return to Istanbul in 2008, he dropped the album Apollo and opened his own hip-hop clothing store. In 2009, the Afghan-born rapper featured on Fuat’s Kalbum album and duetted with singer Sultana on the soundtrack for the youth movie Adab-ı Muaşeret. That year, he also opened his own recording studio, providing guidance and advice to up-and-coming rappers. Following the release of the albums AbduRhyme (2011) and 16:34 (2012), A.P.O. changed his pen name to Eypio in 2013. Preceded by the singles “Kral Çıplak” and “Ay Kızım,” his sixth studio effort Beton Duvar saw the light in 2014 but it was 2016’s Günah Benim that marked the transition from his earlier underground work into mainstream success. In 2019, his single “Naim” was included in the soundtrack of the film Cep Herkülü: Naim Süleymanoğlu. It was also later released as a single, reaching Number 95 on the Turkish Top 100.
