Biography

József "Joci" Pápai, born on September 22, 1981, in Hungary, is a singer and guitarist from the Hungarian Romani minority. His musical journey began at an early age, influenced by his older brother who played guitar. He gained public attention in 2005 when he participated in the second season of Megasztár, a popular Hungarian singing competition on TV2. Pápai's first significant success came with the single "Ne nézz így rám". In 2006, he collaborated with rapper Majka on several tracks. His collaboration with Majka continued with hits like "Mikor a test örexik" in 2015. Pápai represented Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 with "Origo", finishing eighth in the final after qualifying from the second semi-final. He returned to the contest in 2019 with "Az én apám".
