Biography
Evelyn Tubb (born 1954) is an English soprano and early music specialist from the Isle of Wight. She studied piano, trumpet, and violin before focusing on vocal training, graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1976. Tubb performed as a long-time member of The Consort of Musicke and collaborated with lutenist Michael Fields. Her recordings include The Mad Lover (1994) and The Troubadour and the Nun (2008). In 1993, The New York Times noted the huskiness of her lower harmonies in 17th-century Italian love duets. Gramophone reviewed her performance in The Mad Lover in 1994, describing her technical skills and concentration on meaning. Tubb appeared regularly at the Sastamala Gregoriana festival starting in the late 1990s and served as a professor at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland.
