Biography

Eve Queler, born Eve Rabin on January 11, 1931 in New York, is an American conductor. She studied piano under Isabelle Vengerova and graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and Art in 1948. Queler founded the Opera Orchestra of New York (OONY) in the late 1960s or early 1970s, directing several relatively little-known operas such as Rienzi and Jenůfa. She als conducted with numerous international opera companies and orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre and Opera Australia. Queler received several accolades, including being named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2002 and an Opera Honors Award from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2010.
