Biography

Eric Hutchinson, born September 8, 1980 in Takoma Park, Maryland, is an American singer-songwriter known for his folk pop and pop rock music. He grew up as the son of Royal Hutchinson and Jean Engel, graduating from Montgomery Blair High School before attending Emerson College in Boston. In 2005, Eric Hutchinson signed with Madonna's Maverick Records, but the label shut down before his album was released. He independently recorded and released Sounds Like This in 2007, which debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The album was later picked up by Warner Bros. Records. His single "Rock & Roll" earned him his first gold record in the United States and reached Number 1 in Australia in April 2009. In 2012, Hutchinson released Moving Up Living Down, which included the single "Watching You Watch Him", debuting on the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy. His third album, Pure Fiction (2014), featured "Tell the World" as the theme song for the NBC sitcom Growing Up Fisher. Hutchinson has toured extensively with artists such as Kelly Clarkson and Jason Mraz. He is also known for his distinctive stage attire, often wearing sharp, colorful suits.
