Biography

Carl Erik Gudmundson Sojdelius, born 31 July 1965 in Uppsala, Sweden, is a Swedish singer who adopted the stage name Eric Gadd. After growing up in Visby and later Vallentuna, he entered the music scene with his debut single "Ett ensamt hjärta" in 1987, which led to the release of the album Hello the same year. In 1989 he followed with the double album Hurra du lever! Pang du är död! and the single "Kom Hit Och Ta", establishing his presence in the Swedish pop‑R&B landscape. The early 1990s saw a shift toward English‑language releases, with the album Do You Believe in Gadd? (1991) featuring the dance hit "Do You Believe in Me" that gained popularity in the Philippines, and the album On Display (1993), which earned him a Swedish Grammis award for Artist of the Year. Subsequent albums Floating (1995), The Right Way (1997) and Greatest Hits (1998) solidified his international collaborations, including work with Caron Wheeler and Biti Strauchn. Returning to Swedish, he issued the album Stockholm står kvar men jag ligger (2008) and later the album Fiende Eller Vän (2013). His participation in Melodifestivalen 2013 with "Vi kommer aldrig att förlora" reached the Second Chance round, and in 2018 he appeared on the TV4 series Så mycket bättre. Throughout his career, Eric Gadd received multiple Grammis awards.
