Ensemble Jacques Moderne, a French choir specializing in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, was founded by Jean-Pierre Ouvrard in 1974 in Tours. Under his direction, the ensemble released albums such as Motets & Missa de la Batalla Escoutez (1990) and Motets Latins (1991). In 1993, Joël Suhubiette took over as director, leading the group to significant with notable works including La Bataille de Marignan (1996), Requiem/Magnificat/Te Deum (2001) and Missa de Beata Virgine, Marian Polyphonies (2003). The ensemble notably received critical praise for Dietrich Buxtehude, Jesu, Meine Freude (2007), which earned five Diapasons.
