El Taiger, born José Manuel Carvajal ZaldÃvar on September 6, 1987, in Havana, Cuba, was a leading voice in Cuban reggaetón and urban music, known for his innovation and unique style that earned him the moniker âEl Taiger.â His musical journey began with the group Los 4, followed by Los Desiguales, where he helped introduce a distinctive fusion of fashion and music known as âFashaton.â El Taiger launched his solo career with his debut album in 2016, which brought him international attention when his track "La Habana" featured in the Fast & Furious 8 soundtrack, produced by Pinto Wahin and DJ Ricky Luna. In 2021, his song "La Historia" skyrocketed in popularity, establishing him as a household name in Cuban urban music. Other notable hits included "Marca Mandarina," "Washypupa," "Southwezzzzt," "Habla Matador," and "Coronamos," a collaboration with Latin superstars Bad Bunny, Cosculluela, Bryant Myers, and J Balvin. El Taigerâs life came to a tragic end on October 10, 2024, in Miami after an attack, leaving a significant legacy in Latin music at just 37 years old.
