Biography
El Gafla was formed in Paris in 2002 around singer Karim Chaya. Sharing the ideas and musical approach of Manu Chao, whose "Clandestino" Karim Chaya covered as a duet, El Gafla released the album Paris/Casbah in 2006. This was followed by an international tour that took El Gafla on the road in France and in countries as exotic as Kazakhstan and Qatar. El Gafla performed in Algeria in 2009, giving Karim Chaya the opportunity to rediscover his roots in the land of his childhood. The 5 Titres EP released in January 2012 is the perfect preparation for the album Salam à Toi , due out in March.
