Biography

Jesús Alfredo Rodríguez Hernández, known as El Compa Chuy, is a corrido singer from Culiacán, Sinaloa, who began performing in his local music scene as a teenager, developing a storytelling style built around accordion, guitar, and tuba. He launched his professional recording career in 2008 with the album Alacrana Lavada, which included songs like the title track and “La Avioneta y el Boludo.” He followed up in 2009 with Gente Peligrosa, which featured singles like “Al Nuevo Altata” and "Llegó un Matón al Infierno." That year, his version of "El Corrido del Katch" gained traction on Latin charts and helped broaden his audience. He continued that momentum with the 2010 album Con Estilo, known for tracks such as “Estilo Especial” and "Comandante Antrax." After a few years focused on touring and live performances, he released the live album Corridos y Canciones Pa’rribeñas (En Vivo) in 2016, followed by En Vivo Desde la Finikera in 2023, both of which highlighted his ability to connect with fans through raw, in-the-moment renditions. In 2025, he released a new studio album titled El Más Poderoso, a 12-track project reaffirming his role in preserving and evolving the corrido tradition with updated production and timeless narrative themes.
