Eisenvater is a German rock/metal band formed in April 1990 in Hamburg by Jim Sudmann and Markus E. Lipka, known for its distinctive sound characterized by electric guitars and a blend of sludge, doom, and industrial metal elements. The band's early struggles to secure a record deal due to their use of German lyrics led them to sign with the small, south German hardcore label We Bite Records. Their debut album Eisenvater was released in 1992, followed by extensive touring within Germany and select shows abroad. Despite lineup changes, Eisenvater released two more albums, II (1994) and III (1995), before taking a hiatus in 1996. The band reunited in April 2002, releasing their fourth album IV in 2009. In 2013, Peter Bellendir passed away following a prolonged illness.
